Mr. VanderSchuur grew up in Italy and the Eastern U.S. His father was in the military, and his family moved often, developing his ability to adapt quickly. He was competitive in athletics year-round, including football on two continents, swimming, and track.

As Managing Director and Head of Operations, Leo oversees the business's operational activities, delivering world-class and uniform processes across offices and teams. As stewards of Benchmark International’s proprietary sell-side M&A process, Leo’s team works across the industry to maintain standard operating procedures, define best practices, develop and maintain training curriculums, onboard and train personnel, and monitor quality. Before his current role, Leo led one of Benchmark International’s talented and highly successful Transaction teams. He brings value to clients and the team from his unique experiences. As a military veteran in the Navy Nuclear Power Program and as an engineer, he focuses objectively on processes and goals and can support even the most complex business needs. With many years of experience as a successful P&L operator, from $10 million businesses to $800 million global divisions, he’s skilled at identifying the keys to position our clients for a successful sale. With over 20 years of M&A experience (corporate and private equity-related), he brings a keen perspective to the deal process, including a solid buy-side viewpoint to anticipate challenges and opportunities and get the most for our clients.
