Joel grew up in Boulder, CO and received his Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Arizona State University and his Masters in Business Economics from UC Santa Barbara. He believes that small to mid-size businesses and middle market companies are major drivers of U.S. innovation and economic growth, and he has developed a passion for helping founders and family-owned businesses optimize economic outcomes and preserve their legacies through thoughtful exit strategies. Joel’s role at Benchmark International is to help business owners through the process of selecting the right investment bankers to advise on the sale of their company.

Experience

Having spent years on both the buy and sell side, as well as having sold his own companies as an entrepreneur, Joel has a unique perspective on business and interpersonal dynamics when it comes to achieving seller objectives and a understanding the relationships necessary to achieve a truly successful
transaction process.

With more than 20 years in the industry—including the past two decades as an investment banker advising buyers and sellers of middle-market companies on M&A strategy—Joel has come to recognize that the deals he is most proud of are the ones in which he helped founders to not only maximize their value but also end up with a partner who would truly honor their vision for the company and its employees going forward.
