Benchmark International is pleased to announce the acquisition of Allpack by Macfarlane.
Allpack is a packaging distribution company serving SMEs and end-users across East Anglia from its warehouse facilities near Bury St Edmunds. The company provides a comprehensive range of packaging materials and associated products including cartons, bubble film, polythene bags, and postal packaging.
Allpack has a team of 10 employees, including three directors, all of whom will remain with the business following the acquisition.
Headquartered in Glasgow, Macfarlane is a listed company that was established in 1949. The company employs more than 1,000 people across its sites in the UK, as well as in Ireland, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands.
In its preliminary results released last month for the year ended 31 December 2023, Macfarlane recorded turnover of £280.7m.
The deal aligns with the company’s strategy to build its protective packaging business through a combination of organic and acquisitive growth. Macfarlane also said there are opportunities for Allpack’s customers to benefit from access to its extensive range of protective packaging products and services.
Peter Atkinson, chief executive of Macfarlane, said: “This latest transaction follows three acquisitions undertaken in the prior 12 months, and clearly demonstrates further progress in executing against our buy and build strategy. Allpack is a well-run, successful protective packaging distributor with an experienced management team. The addition of Allpack to the Macfarlane Group further strengthens our ability to serve customers in East Anglia. We look forward to working with the team at Allpack to support its continued growth.”
This is the second transaction conducted via Benchmark International for Macfarlane, following the acquisition of Gottlieb last year.
