About

Mr. Karnofel grew up in the small town of Sebring, Ohio, where his father raised him to live life by the Golden Rule. His father’s commitment to live up to his word and always fulfill his obligations drove Dave to be the best he can be in all endeavors.

He has been directly involved in various corporate mergers and acquisitions since the early 1980s, and has acted in an advisory capacity since 1999. Prior to his career in M&A, he owned and operated six businesses ranging from an accounting practice to a sports and entertainment company. He has been a CFO for a large multinational corporation as well as a CEO for a company with 150 locations across the US. His 40 years of experience allow him to understand the bigger picture, as well as the finer details of an entrepreneur’s business. Although trained as a CPA, he has spent much of his career in sales, operations and executive management. This rare combination provides him with a unique insight into the operation of a business from a financial perspective and also allows him to better assess the potential marketability of a given company.

Mr. Karnofel assists entrepreneurs in understanding what opportunities exist in the market to develop an appropriate exit strategy from their business for themselves and their family. He has spent the last 20 years in various business models surrounding the small to middle-market mergers and acquisition industry. As he has witnessed both success and failure, he wanted to find a company that had “figured it out.” An associate introduced him to Benchmark International and he was instantly drawn to its ethos and the quality of the people.

Dave has a deep compassion for our customers and a commitment to do the right thing, every time. He also has a significant level of experience living in the shoes of our clients, having run several businesses of his own.

Passion

Over the years, Dave made the decision to focus on the small middle market versus the larger 'bulge bracket' market. The difference is that, when completing a transaction with a very large company, the owners and shareholders take their money and repeat the process. At Benchmark International, when we complete a transaction for an entrepreneur in the small to middle market, we change their lives forever. He thinks that is a pretty special feeling.
