Mr. Botha grew up west of Johannesburg and started his career at First National Bank. He enjoyed interacting with other bank employees and customers and with people from completely different backgrounds and cultures from whom he could learn a lot. This knowledge shaped his outlook on life and became a source of inspiration.
During his years in business and corporate banking, Winston had seen many business owners fall victim to external factors, inexperienced advisers and those seeking to exploit the uninformed. Following his passion for helping, he has provided many business owners with the necessary information to help them make informed decisions with regards to their growth or exit strategies. In fact, before he joined Benchmark International, he had assisted dozens of business owners to sell their business at the future potential value of the company, rather than a lower value based on historic financial performance.
It is important to Winston to help business owners to differentiate the process of selling a business from that of selling or buying fixed property or applying for funding. In the business banking environment, he had spent many years successfully concluding funding applications based on cash-flow-lending concepts as opposed to securitised lending. He applied those same cash-flow-lending principles outside the banking environment and can attest to dozens of his clients subsequently selling their businesses at premium values.
